Instead of the traditional smooth surface I have chosen to follow a sculptural approach to interior textiles. I want to be able to transform flat textile to dimensional form, to create a tactile feel that not only appeals to the eyes but also to the hand. The nature of felt allows for a wall to be transformed into a 3D wall sculpture. With inspiration from paper folding, I hope to change the idea of wall coverings from just print and pattern to an embellished surface. With custom designed shape to fit into feature walls or panels, these felt motifs are able to interact with not only the space it will be placed in but also with the people that will spend time in the spaces. It cannot be forgotten that hospitality interiors, not matter how minimalistic or over-the-top, are designed with hopes to appeal to their guests who will wish to spend time in these spaces. In manipulating geometric shapes and adding delicate suggestions of the natural world through gradual, hazy color shifts people interacting with this space are able to harmonize with their environment.
